Ingredients
  

Pumpkin Puree

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree fresh or canned

Spices

  • 1 tsp cinnamon ground
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg ground
  • 1/2 tsp ginger ground
  • 1/4 tsp clove ground

Sweeteners

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or brown sugar

Acidic Component

  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

Creaminess

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or coconut milk

Optional Enhancers

  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika for smokiness
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes for spice

Fresh Herbs

  • sage or rosemary for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C) if using fresh pumpkin.
  • Roast or steam fresh pumpkin cubes until soft, then blend until smooth.
  • In a blender, combine pumpkin puree, spices, sweetener, acidic component, and cream.
  • Blend until smooth, adding water or cream if needed to adjust consistency.
  • Pour mixture into a saucepan and simmer over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning, then remove from heat and let cool before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use coconut milk or another non-dairy alternative.
