Instructions
Pour honey, ketchup, and apple cider vinegar into a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
Use a whisk to mix thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth.
Gradually sprinkle in garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, mustard, salt, and black pepper while stirring continuously.
Optional: Add liquid smoke for extra smoky flavor.
Bring the sauce mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
The sauce should thicken and coat the back of a spoon.
Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Transfer sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before use.
Notes
For a lower sugar version, reduce honey and enhance flavor with additional spices.
