Instructions
Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add butter and let it melt completely.
Gradually add flour, stirring continuously until smooth and light golden brown.
Slowly pour in chicken stock while whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
Add salt, pepper, thyme, bay leaf, and garlic powder. Stir well and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream. Remove the bay leaf before serving.
