Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Skillet
  • Sharp knife
  • Spatula
  • Serving Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 can refried beans (16 oz, warmed for easier spreading)
  • 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt for a lighter option
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/2 lb ground beef or turkey, cooked with taco seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1 tomato diced
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 avocado sliced or mashed
  • cilantro fresh, chopped (for garnish)
  • lime juice for extra flavor

Instructions

  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat and stir in taco seasoning. Set aside.
  • Warm the refried beans slightly for easier spreading, then spread evenly in the bottom of a serving dish.
  • Spread a layer of sour cream over the refried beans.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the sour cream.
  • Evenly distribute the seasoned ground beef over the cheese layer.
  • Add a layer of diced tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños for freshness and a slight kick.
  • Top with shredded lettuce and avocado slices.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice for extra zest.
  • Serve immediately with tortilla chips or cover and refrigerate for later use.

Notes

For a spicier dip, add extra jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce. Serve with tortilla chips or fresh-cut vegetables for dipping.
